Хоть я и не мусульманин..
Haj is a major pillar of Islam all over the world. For every Muslim, Haj is the pilgrimage of a lifetime. There are certain rules, regulations and facts which Muslims hailing from Dubai and UAE at large need to know. Here is the list:
Travelling by Bus: As costs to take the Haj pilgrimage have gone up for the last few years, bus is a popular option to travel from UAE to Makkah/ Madinah. The bus-journey takes about 24 to 36 hours. Charges are anything between 10,000 AED to 19,000 AED (inclusive of accommodation).
Travelling by Car: Haj operators across UAE take the Haj month as a golden opportunity to fill their own pockets. Consequently, large families from different parts of UAE opt for car journeys to Saudi Arabia. Even smaller families pool in resources and travel in groups. This saves money spent on local travel as the only costs incurred are on fuel and accommodation.
Travelling by Air:This is also a popular choice as it saves on travel time which is only about two to two and a half hours from UAE. A Haj package in UAE costs about 12,000 AED to 100,000 AED for a regular to VIP option.
Women Pilgrims:Single women are not allowed to travel alone in Saudi. A woman has to have her father/ brother/ husband accompanying her. Otherwise, women need to travel in groups.
Foreign Muslims:Only 1000 per 1 million Muslims are permitted to perform Haj from a country, as per the Organization of Islamic Conference.
Visa Regulations for Haj:UAE nationals do not need a visa to travel to Saudi Arabia. Expatriates residing in the UAE, on the other hand, do need a valid visa.
Visa Regulations for Umrah:Expatriate Muslims in the UAE need an Umrah visa to undertake the journey of Umrah – the lesser pilgrimage. Umrah, unlike Haj, can be performed at any time during the year.
